Section 1: Technical Syllabus

A. Electricity Theory
  • Principle of Electricity: Voltage, current, resistance, ohm's law, series and parallel circuit, voltage drop calculation.
  • Practical Units: Unit of voltage, current, resistance, power and energy.
  • Power Relations: Relation between KW and HP.
  • Electro Magnetism: Concept of EMF, Fleming's rules, magnetic, chemical and heating effect of current.
  • Materials: Conductors, semiconductors, insulators, transformer oil, and lubricants.
  • Generation: Renewable and non-renewable sources, AC and DC production methods.
  • Control Gear: Switches, circuit breakers, starters, and protective devices for motors.
  • Transformers: Single/Three phase construction, maintenance, parallel working, tapings, CT/PT.
  • AC/DC Machines: Alternators, DC Generators (shunt, series, compound), interpoles, commutators.
  • Batteries: Lead acid, alkaline cells, charging circuits, and maintenance.
  • Motors: Induction motors (squirrel/slip-ring), synchronous motors, starting and speed control.
  • AC Circuits: R-L-C circuits, power factor, star-delta connection, phase sequence.
  • Illumination: Lamps, street lighting, and photometric measurements.
  • Safety: CEA Safety Regulations 2023, Electricity Act-2003, and Fire safety.
B. Electricity Utilization
