Section A: Non-Technical 20 Marks

General Knowledge

  • Current events National & International
  • Constitution of India, Political system and Indian Administrative system
  • Knowledge of Chhattisgarh: geography, resources, industries, education, administration, history, culture, freedom struggle, and tourist centers

Reasoning and Arithmetic

  • Coding - Decoding, Number series, Non-verbal series, Directions, Decision making
  • Alphabet series, Clocks & calendars, Number ranking, Cube & dice, Mirror images
  • Blood relations, Arithmetical reasoning, Embedded figures
  • Arithmetic: multiplication, division, addition, subtraction etc.

Section B: Core Engineering 80 Marks

1. Electromagnet Field Theory & Networks

  • Co-ordinate system, Scalar/Vector fields, Stokes theorem, Coulomb's law, Laplace's & Poisson's equations, Biot-Savart's Law, Ampere's Law
  • Network Analysis: Circuit elements, KCL and KVL analysis, magnetically coupled circuits
  • Network Theorems for AC & DC, Laplace transform, Fourier series, Two ports parameters

2. Electronics

  • Semiconductors diodes, Transistor Characteristics (VI, Applications, Specifications)
  • Amplifiers (h-parameters, coupled/cascaded), Feedback Amplifiers and Oscillators
  • Digital: Boolean Algebra, Logic gates, Combinational & Sequential Circuits (Multiplexer, PLA, ADC/DAC)
  • 16-bit 8086 Microprocessor and 8051 Microcontroller Architecture

3. Power Electronics Circuit

  • Applications and Characteristics of power electronics devices, Commutation, firing of SCR
  • Rating, protection, and Series/Parallel operation of SCR, Rectifier circuits
  • Voltage and current Source Invertor, Harmonics reduction
  • Chopper operation and Cyclo convertor

4. Electrical Instrumentation

  • Accuracy, precision, Error Analysis, Testing and Calibration
  • Measurement of power/energy, Energy meter, Tri-vector meter, Megger, Earth resistance
  • Bridges circuits, Transducers, Digital data acquisition systems, Signal Generators

5. Control Engineering

  • Modeling of dynamic systems, transfer functions, Signal flow graph, Mason's Formula
  • Components: Error Detectors, Servomotors, stepper motors
  • Time-domain analysis, Bode plots, Nyquist stability analysis, Sate-space Analysis

6. Power System

  • Power generation, HVAC/HVDC Systems, Plant Economics, Transmission Line Components
  • Performance of Short/Medium/Long lines, Surge Impedance, Voltage control
  • Fault Analysis: Symmetrical components, Sequence networks
  • Protective Relays, Circuit breakers (SF6, Vacuum, etc.), Protection of generators/transformers/lines

7. Interconnected Power Systems

  • Power flow studies, Economic operation, capability curves
  • MW frequency control, Voltage stability (PV Curve), Power System Stability
  • SCADA, Smart Grid Concepts, Energy Management and Audit
  • Power factor improvement, Energy Conservation

8. Electrical Machine

  • Transformer: e.m.f. equation, equivalent circuit, voltage regulation, Autotransformer
  • DC Machine: Emf/Torque equation, Armature Reaction
  • Three phase & Single Phase Induction Motors: Principle, speed control, starting methods
  • Synchronous machines: generators, Two reaction theory, parallel operation, Synchronous Motor

9. Special Motors

  • Permanent magnet motors, Stepper Motors, AC-series motors, Brush less dc motors
  • Control of D.C. motors by convertors and Choppers
  • Control of Induction motors (PWM, Static Kramer Drive) and Synchronous Motors

10. Domestic/Industrial Wiring & Drives

  • Illumination Engineering: Nature of light, luminous efficiency, lightning calculation
  • Heating Welding and Electrolysis: methods, power supply, electrolytic principles
